In his own words: “After visiting a few other flights schools in the Southern California area I finally came across Civic Helicopters. The whole staff, from the office to instructors and maintenance were so welcoming and were a wealth of knowledge from the get go. With the warm knowledgable welcome, seeing the great facility and the very well maintained aircraft I felt safe and knew right away that this was the place for me. I started my flight training in late 2004, trained part time and finished my PPL, Instrument Rating, CPL and CFI by the end of 2005. I am very thankful for having the opportunity to have trained and instructed at Civic Helicopters. It has truly set a high quality foundation for the rest of my career.
After Civic I went on to work at PHI flying the off-shore oil fields for 3 years where I started off in the Bell 206L3 and then on to fly the S76A++, C+ and C++ models. My last 9 months at PHI I had the opportunity to fly the S76C++ configured for EMS and NVG’s in the first dedicated off-shore EMS contract. From there I joined Maverick Helicopters in Las Vegas flying the EC130B4 doing tours to and from the Grand Canyon. Now I have settled down in Santa Maria, CA flying for Arctic Air Helicopters flying to the off-shore oil platforms just off the coast of Santa Barbara in the S76A+ and B models. We also operate a twinstar for various charter operations. In recent months I have become the acting Safety Officer working on developing a proactive SMS program for my company.
Throughout my aviation career I have been fortunate enough to keep in touch with almost all of my former instructors, colleagues I instructed along side and students. Every one has been a valuable friend and resource along the way. All the best in your training as you pursue your dreams. It is worth it!!”
